Zee changes, the pay channel Zee News is now Free to Air. Tis decision has been approved by the Zee Media Corporation Board on May 6. The move is expected to further expand the reach of the channel. ZMCL’s channels will be distributed by its sister company Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL).

ZMCL had signed a deal with Taj Television India, a wholly owned subsidiary of ZEEL. The company was paying 14% of its subscription revenue to Taj Television India and now ZMCL will share 7% subscription revenue with ZEEL as distribution commission. Owner of 10 news channels in six different languages, ZMCL attracts more than 119 million viewers.
The network comprises three national channels—Zee News (Hindi news), India 24X7 and Zee Business (Hindi business news). It also runs regional news channels, namely Zee 24 Taas (Marathi), Zee Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh (Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh), Zee Marudhara (Rajasthan), Zee Punjab Haryana Himachal and Zee Kalinga (Odisha).
Additionally, the company operates two regional news channels through its subsidiaries—24 Ghanta (Bengali) through Zee Akaash News and Maurya TV (Bihar & Jharkhand) through Maurya TV Pvt Ltd. According to BARC data for Week 17 of 2016, Zee News did not find a place among the top 5 Hindi news channels.
